Getting started
Where do I start?
Tap “Create renovation” and give it a name, dates and, if you like, a spending limit. Then add a room with its measurements, the jobs for that room and the materials. “Home” shows progress, the budget left and the next jobs.
Where is the sample renovation?
“See a sample renovation” appears on the welcome screen and in “My renovations” only while you have no renovation. Once you have created one, the button is not shown.
How do I change the language?
In “More → Settings → Language” you can choose “Same as phone”, Español or English. With “Same as phone” the app follows the system language: Spanish or English; in any other language it is shown in Spanish.
Rooms and areas
How are the areas worked out?
Floor: length by width. Ceiling: the same as the floor. Walls, gross: perimeter by height. Openings: width by height by quantity for each door or window. Walls, net: gross walls minus openings. Everything is rounded to hundredths of a square metre.
My room is L-shaped. What do I do?
Choose “Free shape” and enter the perimeter (the length of every wall added up) and the floor area.
Why can’t I save an opening?
The app rejects an opening that is taller than the room or wider than its wall, and the message gives you the limit. If you change the measurements and an opening no longer fits, it has to be corrected before you can save.
Budget
What is the variance?
Actual spend minus the estimate. When it is negative you have spent less than you estimated; when it is positive, more.
What is the difference between the spending limit and the estimate?
The estimate is the sum of what you reckon each job, material and cost will come to. The spending limit is the most you want to spend in total. If you set no limit, the app compares actual spend with the estimate.
How does VAT work?
In “More → Settings → VAT” you choose “My amounts already include VAT” or “Add VAT to my amounts” and, in that case, type the rate. You decide the rate. The app gives no tax advice and does not know which rate applies to your renovation.
I ticked a material as bought and the spend changed.
When you tick it, the app takes the estimated amount as the amount paid and tells you so. If you paid a different amount, open the material and correct it.
Calendar
How does the app schedule the jobs?
In “Schedule jobs” you choose the start date and your working days. The app places one job after another following the usual order of work, the priority and how long ago the job was added, and shows you the dates before you apply them. You can undo it.
Does the app alert me when a deadline arrives?
It sends no notifications. Deadlines and jobs running late are shown when you open the app, in “Home” and in “Calendar”.
Photos, tradespeople and PDF
Which permissions does the app ask for?
None. You choose photos with the system picker and the app only receives the ones you select; they are copied to the app’s private folder, without location data.
Where do the tradespeople’s contacts come from?
You type them yourself. The app does not read your address book or send them anywhere. Tapping the phone number or the email opens your phone’s own app.
What happens when I accept a quote?
The job is assigned to that tradesperson and its estimated cost becomes the amount of the quote.
What does the PDF include?
Always the summary. In addition, the sections you switch on: rooms and areas, budget and actual spend, materials list and job schedule. “Tradespeople” is off by default because it contains other people’s personal details.
Your data
Can I move my renovations to another phone?
Not automatically. The data is kept on the phone only, with no cloud copy, and the app has no backup file. You can export the renovation as a PDF to keep it.
How do I delete everything?
In “More → Settings → Delete all data”. All renovations, photos and tradespeople on that phone are deleted and it cannot be undone. If you uninstall the app, they are deleted too.
